Start! Walking Paths in Sioux Falls

The team worked closely with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and South Dakota Game Fish and Parks to mark 15 Start! Walking Paths in Sioux Falls with permanent signs. The case study was shared by national staff as a best practice.







South Dakota Goes Red

The team worked together to light South Dakota red on National Wear Red Day -- Falls Park in the East and the State Capital out West.

Eliminating Health Disparities

The team recruited minority spokespeople to record public service announcements with a variety of heart and stroke health messages that aired across the state.

South Dakota Goes Smoke-Free!

The biggest victory of the year was passing a strong, state-wide smoking ban. AHA staff, volunteers and coalition partners joined Governor Rounds as he signed the bill into law.
